Checoslovaquia, país muy industrializado, aumenta progresivamente sus recursos de energía eléctrica desde su constitución en Estado. La producción de energía eléctrica en 1957 fue de 17.800 millones kWh, cantidad que se piensa elevar a 64.000 millones kWh en 1970. La energía hidroeléctrica se utiliza para cubrir las puntas de consumo, y representa el 13 por 100 de la producción total.
