La continua evolución de la forma de vida ha forzado a las madres a confiar a brazos extraños el cuidado de sus pequeños, incluso antes de que éstos abandonen el biberón. Este ha sido el origen de las guarderías infantiles, verdaderas escuelas, en las que el niño aprende a dar sus primeros pasos, a tratar con sus compañeros y a someterse a una disciplina.
