La necesidad, la urgente necesidad que tenía la capital alemana —después de la guerra— de una sala de conciertos digna, era tan apremiante, que empezaron los ensayos en la nueva cuando todavía no se habían acabado las obras, y como tal fue inscrita mucho tiempo antes de ser abierta al público. Por esta razón apenas hubo lugar a introducir reformas, ni siquiera a realizar algunas pruebas.
