El nuevo puerto de Rota

Descripción de las obras que actualmente se están realizando para la construcción del puerto de Rota (Cádiz). La escollera de protección del puerto, de unos 2.400 m de longitud, se está construyendo con tetrápodos de hormigón para proteger el núcleo de piedra de la escollera. En el número 49 de esta revista se ha publicado un interesante trabajo, de F. Biesel, en el que se trata de la génesis del tetraedro y paso de éste al tetrápodo, forma y estado actual de los sólidos empleados para la protección contra las acciones demoledoras del agua en movimiento agitado. El puerto o base naval de Rota es de tipo artificial, está ubicado sobre una playa y dispondrá, una vez terminado, de unos 300 m de muelle en aguas profundas, en el que podrán amarrar las grandes unidades navales.
