Abstract

Presstessed and reinforced precast concrete structures behaviour in seismic areas depends mostly on the kind ofjoint between elements. The final configuration ofthe structure for resisting actions is granted by the e.xecution ofrigid connections during the building phase.
When joints in precast structures have continuity ofthe reinforcement in the connections, the behaviour ofthese structures in seismic areas is quite similar to cast-in-situ ones. Therefore, no limitation should be applied and the same requirements statedfor common structures should be validatedfor precast ones.
