This work evaluates the structural behavior of the Church of San Francisco de Paula, in Uquía (Jujuy, Argentina), a historic building that presents thick adobe masonry walls previously intervened with internal reinforced concrete frames. In the context of its restoration, the church was simulated using the Finite Element Method and various strategies to approximate the mechanical behavior of its materials. Scenarios with and without the concrete structure, and with and without the presence of pathologies, were analyzed, informing the design of reinforcement proposals. As a result, an increase in the seismic performance of the church of Uquía was verified in the presence of the proposed reinforcements and preserving its internal reinforced concrete structure. The simulations show that the concrete provides stiffness to the structure, limits its post-critical deformations, and affects the development of stresses and the failure mode of the adobe walls.
