In architectural works, structural calculations are usually few and simple, they mostly corroborate what is already known. Calculations are made for the most part with the purpose of exploring solutions. When working in a specific case operations ought to be framed in the practical understanding, with predictable values and tabulated solutions, with no surprises. To write numbers and trust them blindly, is like a reckless appointment, something that should not be done in structures. This article shows how to use the structural knowledge in order to explore a specific solution: a collar for metal supports.
