Abstract

This article presents the development of an original methodology designed to analyse the flows and circulations of users who come to hospital centres, from the perspective of vulnerable people who suffer from some type of disability or dysfunction. The research covers the complete user experience, from their home to the healthcare unit, taking the Príncipe de Asturias University Hospital (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid) as a case study. The methodology is based on rigorous field work, surveying and representation that is structured in three scales according to the scope of reflection: territory (XL), hospital surroundings (L) and interior of the building (M). The results allow us to know the critical spaces of tension, the accessibility problem, the length of the times, etc. and serve as an exportable system of analysis of other hospitals from which to make proposals for accessible and inclusive improvements.
